2023 Winter Break
Family Ski Academy & Sleepaway Camp
Slovenia, Italy, Austria
February 18-25, 2023
Ski or snowboard somewhere new and off the beaten track while your kids attend the NBW Ski Academy.
Slovenia and its surrounding countries have a unique culture that combines best of Europe and the Balkans. We will spend eight days exploring this winter wonderland on a road trip from the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, to the stunning town of Lake Bled and daily excursions to nearby resorts.
We will explore multiple beautiful ski resorts in the Julian Alps, Kamnik Alps, Austria, and Italy. You’ll enjoy the quiet, queue-free, and uncrowded groomed runs where you may feel as if you have discovered your private ski or snowboarding wonderland. There are plenty of off-piste terrain options to satisfy freeride lovers too. A professional NBW-certified local guide will show you where to find the best lines and terrain suited to your ability. During this tour, we will stay in 4-star hotels in the city center of Ljubljana and the town of Lake Bled.
We created this February winter break ski holiday with families with kids in mind. We are bringing the No Bad Weather philosophy to your family to have fun on and off slopes. You can keep your entire family happy with a combination of kids- and adults-only activities. Daily skiing will be held in separate groups, with children attending the ski academy and optional meet-ups over lunch.
The trip program is designed to bring together and unite like-minded individuals and families from our existing NBW community.
The entire trip is carefully coordinated and under the steady guidance of our experienced & fun tour Leaders. Our team in Slovenia consists of experienced professional instructors who can assist with any level of skiing or snowboarding.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Saturday Arrival day | Dobrodošli! Welcome to Slovenia. Once you make your way to Ljubljana Airport, our local guides will meet you. You will be taken from the airport to our accommodation in the center of Ljubljana with private transportation. Check-in at the hotel in Ljubljana. Meet and greet service by your lead guide. After check-in and meeting, our local guide in Ljubljana will take a late afternoon tour of some of the city's sights. Lovely Ljubljana is not as big as other European capitals. It is known for its architecture, cozy old town, hilltop castle, bridges, excellent restaurants, and bars along the river banks at the heart of the city. |
Day 2: Sunday Krvavec ski resort | On the first day of skiing, we will take you to Krvavec ski resort, which is only 20 mins transfer time away from Ljubljana. We will take the cable car to the resort and spend the day exploring with Bo, the groomed and hidden gems of his hometown mountain. The Ski Resort has 30km of well-groomed ski runs 1,450m – 1,971m above sea level, providing excellent conditions for skiing. Due to the resort's favorable location, the resort guarantees 100 skiing days each season. Great to know that the ski runs are varied and ideal for recreational and professional skiers. Krvavec's highest peaks offer fantastic panoramic views, while the food and beverage are half the price of those in France. |
Day 3: Monday Vogel ski resort | Monday, after breakfast, we will check out of the hotel in Ljubljana and continue your ski safari at the Vogel ski resort. Transfer time 50 min. Vogel offers spectacular views and very well-maintained ski slopes. There are runs to challenge all abilities. It’s one of the BEST freeride resorts in Slovenia, with a great location overlooking the magnificent Lake Bohinj. As it’s one of the country’s higher resorts, it ensures consistently good snowfall. Skiing usually runs till late April time. After skiing, we will drive to a nearby most attractive town in the Alpine region – Bled. Upon arrival, check in at the Hotel Triglav, situated right along the shore of lake Bled. The rooms are modern and comfortable and have great amenities. The hotel restaurant offers breakfasts and dinners featuring high-quality produce from local suppliers. |
Day 4: Tuesday Dreiländereck - Arnoldstein | We will continue across the Northern border on Tuesday and head to Austria. Transfer time 40 min. We’ll take our families to a local hidden gem, the Austrian ski resort of Dreiländereck – Arnoldstein. You’ll enjoy excellent slopes, all on the border triangle between Austria, Slovenia, and Italy. This southernmost ski mountain in the region of Karnten (altitude 680-1600 m) has been an attraction for skiers since the 1930s. |
Day 5: Wednesday Kanin/Sella Nevea | On Wednesday, the ski resort of the day will be Kanin-Sella Nevea; a freeride skiing paradise stretching across two countries, Italy and Slovenia. Driving time is 35-45 min from Bled. This joint Slovenian-Italian ski resort is in one of the snowiest regions in Europe and offers exceptional conditions for an unforgettable freeride skiing adventure. Large amounts of natural snow and powder snow of outstanding quality await you here. The typical cold and dry Eastern Alps climate combined with humid Mediterranean winds generate a unique micro-climate that results in exceptional quality and quantity of consistent powder snow here. Kanin-Sella Nevea is an authentic freeride skiing paradise for riders of all levels. The terrain here is truly unique. In winter, the rock moon-like dunes turn into a giant snow wonderland. If a freeride park existed, this place would be it! The exceptional powder allows descents in every direction, with big open lines, on demanding terrain for expert free-riders or in a few more accessible slopes for beginners. |
Day 6: Thursday Lake Bled Sightseeing & Night Skiing | Thursday daytime will offer everyone a well-deserved break after charging the slopes all week. There will be time to relax, explore Lake Bled, and visit Bo's hometown for lunch. We will move at full speed toward our next adventure in the late afternoon. Get ready for night skiing! It is one of the most beautiful and sensational activities to try sweeping down the slopes with the stars in the sky. And it wouldn't be a proper Italian resort without a cute apres ski spot at the bottom of the mountain. |
Day 7: Friday Extra day (best conditions) | We will bid farewell to Bled on Friday and check out in the morning for a final day on the slopes. And we will make sure it truly is a special one. We will pick a nearby resort (Vogel, Kanin/Sella Nevea, or Nassfeld) based on the best weather conditions that day. For the final night, we will make our way back to Ljubljana. Check in at the hotel and celebrate great days on the slopes with a farewell dinner and some drinks for the parents! |
Day 8: Saturday Departure | It’s always come too soon—time to say farewell. Check out from the hotel. A private chauffeur will be ready to take you to the airport from the hotel. It’s only a 20 min transfer to Ljubljana airport for your flight home. |
